Flat roof replacements: Here at Top Rank, we offer all types of flat roof replacements. The most common type of flat roof is the three layer mineral felt system, this can also be done as a cold or a warm deck roof depending on the customer's needs. Another type of flat roof we can provide is a fibreglass roof, which can also be done as a warm or cold deck roof. All fibreglass roofs come with a 20 year guarantee! Before we start any flat roof replacement we strip all the existing boards and the layers that were previously on there. A warm deck roof consists of a layer of 11ml OSB board followed by a layer of 100ml insulation then another layer of 18ml OSB board is placed on top. When installing a cold deck roof it is essential you have the roof well ventilated and insulation is used. The roof is then coverd by the cure-it fibreglass system or the three layer mineral felt system which involved two layers of underlay felt followed by top quality mineral cap sheet.

Pitched roof replacements: When starting a pitched roof replacement the roof is firstly stripped of existing tiles or slates followed by the battons and felt. If slates or lighter tiles were previously on the roof then it must be supported by adding supporting struts in the attic if a different type of heavier tile is going in its place. It is also building regulations to have the roof insulated so Toprank includes this in its price! The roof is then covered in a breathable membrane in place of the felt and new treated timber is put done followed by the tiles or slates of your choice. All new pitched roofs are ventilated using the dry-fix ridge and hip system, this is the modern way of putting on ridge, verge and valley tiles. The advantages of using this system over the traditional mortar way is it well ventilates the roof and mortar tends to crack, allowing water to find its way into your roof. Toprank also fit skylights and velux windows if required.
